OSH Coordinator Ergonomic Risk Assessment Exercise #

Objective:
To enhance participants’ understanding of ergonomics in the workplace by identifying and assessing ergonomic risks related to material storage/handling, workstation design, machine usage, and welfare facilities based on real working environments or personal experience.


Instructions: #

  1. Form a group of 3–5 participants.
  2. Select a work area (real or based on experience) where ergonomics might be a concern.
  3. Identify ergonomic issues relevant to the selected area, referring to the following modules:

  5. Fill in Table 3.15 with your group findings:
  6. Present your findings to the class in 3–5 minutes per group.

Group Activity:

Participants are to conduct an initial ergonomic risk assessment within their respective departments or selected work areas. The findings from this assessment should be documented and presented using the standardized format through any form as below

3. Paper (Manual writing)
This template ensures consistency in reporting and facilitates a comprehensive review of ergonomic risks identified during the assessment.


Expected Outcome: #

By the end of this exercise, participants will:

  • Gain practical understanding of how ergonomics is linked to various OSH elements.
  • Learn to use a standardized ergonomic risk assessment method (DOSH format).
  • Understand the interaction between poor ergonomic design and workplace injuries.
