Individual Exercise: Socio-Economic & Social Impact Assessment (SIA) #
Objective of the Exercise #
This individual exercise is designed to assess each participant’s ability to identify existing socio-economic and social issues and anticipate potential impacts that may affect surrounding communities, in line with the principles and application of a Social Impact Assessment (SIA).
Participants are required to apply observation, information analysis, and professional judgement based on the site information provided.

- This is an individual assessment.
- Each participant will independently complete the exercise without group discussion.
- Site Review
- The assigned site(s) provided are sufficient for all participants.
- Participants shall:
- Assessment of Existing Issues
- Using the “Assess Your Area” table, evaluate the site and determine the level of issue for each listed term by selecting ONE of the following:
- No Issue
- Concerned
- Issue
- Conflict
- The assessment must be based on:
- Available site information
- Local context and surrounding communities
- Reasonable perception and professional judgement
