1. Training Overview
OSHISIS Solution PLT successfully conducted the MSPO SIA Basic Training from 13 to 15 January 2026 as an In-House Training Programme at Muar Traders Hotel, Johor.
The programme was delivered by Ms. Haslayati Hashim to provide participants with comprehensive knowledge and practical competency on conducting Social Impact Assessment (SIA) in accordance with the latest MSPO SIA Procedure (2025), SIA Guidelines & Approach (2022) and MS 2530:2022 requirements.
The programme was designed to strengthen participant competency in:
- understanding MSPO SIA requirements;
- stakeholder identification and engagement;
- social impact identification and evaluation;
- participatory consultation techniques;
- Social Management Plan (SMP) development;
- SIA reporting;
- internal assessor competency; and
- audit preparation.
Throughout the programme, participants completed guided exercises using actual MSPO SIA guidance documents and practical reporting templates. The training itinerary incorporated classroom explanation, group discussion, case studies, document review, reporting practice, presentation sessions and competency assessment.

3. Training Delivery Methodology
The programme adopted an interactive competency-based learning approach consistent with MSPO Endorsed Training requirements.
Classroom Presentation
The trainer delivered structured explanations covering the complete MSPO SIA framework, SIA Procedure and Guidelines.
Guided Learning
Participants were introduced to the official OSHISIS Knowledge Base which contains:
- complete training modules;
- downloadable presentation slides;
- MSPO Standards;
- SIA references;
- legal references; and
- supplementary guidance materials.
Practical Exercises
Hands-on exercises were conducted throughout the programme to enable participants to apply:
- stakeholder mapping;
- impact identification;
- consultation planning;
- SIA reporting;
- mitigation measures;
- Social Management Plan preparation; and
- documentation review.
Exercises were completed with trainer guidance to ensure consistent interpretation of MSPO requirements.
Document-Based Learning
Participants utilised various supporting references including:
- MSPO SIA Procedure;
- SIA Guidelines & Approach;
- training modules;
- reporting templates; and
- assessment worksheets.
These supporting materials allowed participants to practise interpretation directly from official references rather than relying solely on presentation slides.
Case Study Discussion
Participants discussed practical workplace situations involving:
- stakeholder consultation;
- social conflicts;
- labour issues;
- community engagement;
- FPIC;
- mitigation planning; and
- continual improvement.
Competency Assessment
A structured written assessment was administered upon completion of the programme to verify participant understanding.

5. Participant Understanding Assessment
A written competency assessment was conducted based on the MSPO SIA Guidelines and MSPO SIA Procedure. Participants completed exercises covering stakeholder consultation, SIA methodology, legal context, reporting requirements and management planning.

6. Trainer Observation

- consultation planning;
- presentation sessions; and
- practical discussions.
Participants showed particularly strong interest in:
- preparing compliant SIA reports;
- understanding assessor responsibilities;
- identifying significant social impacts;
- stakeholder consultation techniques;
- Social Management Plan preparation; and
- practical audit expectations.
The document-based learning approach significantly improved participant confidence because every exercise was completed using the same references expected during actual implementation and certification activities.
7. Summary of Improvement Suggestions
Based on participant evaluation and trainer observations, several enhancement opportunities were identified:
- Include additional case studies from plantations and organised smallholders.
- Allocate more time for preparation of complete SIA reports.
- Increase group discussion on stakeholder engagement scenarios.
- Expand practical exercises on Social Management Plan development.
- Provide additional examples of acceptable audit evidence.
- Include more examples of completed consultation records.
These suggestions represent programme enhancement opportunities and do not indicate dissatisfaction.
No negative comments were received.
8. Recommendations for Future Training
The following recommendations are proposed:
- Continue incorporating actual MSPO guidance documents during training.
- Maintain extensive practical reporting exercises.
- Introduce more simulated stakeholder consultation activities.
- Include additional peer review sessions for SIA reports.
- Expand discussion on mitigation effectiveness monitoring.
- Continue providing access to the OSHISIS Knowledge Base after training.
- Conduct periodic refresher programmes whenever the MSPO Scheme issues revisions to the SIA Procedure or Guidance Documents.
9. Conclusion
The MSPO SIA Basic Training conducted from 13 to 15 January 2026 at Muar Traders Hotel, Johor successfully achieved its intended objectives.
Participants gained practical competency in conducting Social Impact Assessments in accordance with the latest MSPO SIA Procedure, SIA Guidelines & Approach, and MS 2530:2022 requirements. The training combined structured classroom delivery, guided practical exercises, case studies, document-based learning, reporting activities, and competency assessment using official MSPO references.
All 19 participants successfully completed the programme and passed the competency assessment, achieving scores between 95% and 98%, demonstrating a high level of understanding of SIA principles, stakeholder consultation, impact assessment methodology, reporting requirements, and Social Management Plan development.
The participant evaluation indicated a high level of satisfaction with the programme, trainer competency, learning materials, and practical exercises. No negative feedback was received.
Based on the attendance, assessment results, participant engagement, and evaluation outcomes, the training is considered successfully delivered and effective in achieving the intended learning outcomes. This report is submitted to the MSPO Scheme Owner in accordance with the reporting requirements for MSPO Endorsed Training Providers.
