1. Training Overview

The MSPO Awareness Training was successfully conducted from 8 to 10 December 2025 at Heliconia & Orchid Meeting Room, Lot 10, ISF Port Klang, Selangor. The programme was organised to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) Certification Scheme and its implementation requirements across the palm oil supply chain.

The programme introduced participants to the objectives and principles of MSPO certification, sustainability requirements, legal compliance obligations, environmental management, social responsibility, occupational safety and health considerations, traceability requirements, stakeholder engagement, and continual improvement expectations.

The training was designed to create awareness among employees and management personnel regarding their respective roles and responsibilities in supporting and maintaining MSPO certification compliance within the organisation.

3. Training Delivery Methodology

The programme was delivered using an interactive and participant-focused learning approach comprising:

a) Interactive Lectures

Comprehensive explanation of MSPO certification principles, requirements, implementation processes, and sustainability expectations.

b) Group Discussions

Participants exchanged experiences and discussed practical implementation issues relevant to their operational responsibilities.

c) Case Study Reviews

Examples from actual palm oil operations were used to strengthen understanding of MSPO compliance requirements.

d) Knowledge Sharing Sessions

Open sharing sessions encouraged participants to discuss challenges and best practices relating to sustainability implementation.

e) Question and Answer Sessions

Participants were given opportunities to clarify requirements and seek guidance on implementation issues directly from the trainer.

f) Assessment Activities

Knowledge assessments and interactive exercises were conducted throughout the programme to evaluate participant understanding.

5. Participant Understanding Assessment

Assessment activities conducted throughout the programme demonstrated that participants successfully achieved the intended learning outcomes.

Participants demonstrated understanding of:

  • The objectives and structure of the MSPO Certification Scheme.
  • Sustainability principles applicable to palm oil operations.

  • Environmental, social, and occupational safety obligations under MSPO.

Assessment exercises, classroom participation, and discussion activities indicated that participants were able to relate the training content to their actual workplace responsibilities and operational practices.

6. Trainer Observation

Throughout the three-day programme, participants demonstrated:

  • Willingness to share operational experiences and implementation challenges.
  • Strong interest in understanding how MSPO requirements apply to their respective job functions.

The trainer observed that practical examples and implementation case studies significantly enhanced participant understanding and encouraged active participation throughout the programme.

7. Summary of Improvement Suggestions

Based on participant feedback and trainer observations, several opportunities for future enhancement were identified:

  1. Increase the number of operational case studies relevant to participant work activities.
  2. Provide additional examples of MSPO documentation and implementation records.
  3. Allocate more time for discussion on practical implementation challenges.
  4. Include more examples of audit findings and compliance expectations.
  5. Continue updating training materials in line with the latest MSPO developments and industry requirements.

Overall, participants indicated that the programme was informative, practical, and directly applicable to their work responsibilities.

8. Recommendations for Future Training

To further enhance future MSPO Awareness Training programmes, the following recommendations are proposed:

Incorporate additional industry-specific case studies and best-practice examples.

Recommendation 3

Provide supplementary implementation guidance materials and workplace reference tools.

Encourage wider participation from operational personnel and management representatives to strengthen organisation-wide awareness.

Recommendation 5

Conduct periodic refresher programmes to ensure continued awareness of evolving MSPO requirements and sustainability expectations.

9. Conclusion

The MSPO Awareness Training conducted from 8 to 10 December 2025 at ISF Port Klang, Selangor was successfully completed with the participation of 27 attendees.

The programme achieved its objective of enhancing participant awareness and understanding of the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) Certification Scheme and its implementation requirements. Participant feedback demonstrated a high level of satisfaction, reflected by an average evaluation score of 4.7 out of 5.0, with no evaluation item receiving a score below 3.0 and no dissatisfactory ratings recorded.

Based on participant engagement, assessment outcomes, and trainer observations, the programme is considered successful in strengthening organisational awareness, supporting sustainability initiatives, and promoting effective implementation of MSPO requirements within the organisation.
