1. Training Overview

The MSPO SIA Basic Training was successfully conducted from 15 to 17 December 2025 through the Zoom online platform. The programme was organised as a public training to develop participants’ competency in conducting Social Impact Assessment (SIA) in accordance with the Malaysian Sustainable Palm Oil (MSPO) Certification Scheme.

The training covered the fundamental principles and methodologies of Social Impact Assessment, including stakeholder identification and consultation, social impact identification, significance evaluation, mitigation planning, monitoring mechanisms, grievance management, and SIA reporting requirements.

The programme was designed to strengthen participants’ understanding of social sustainability requirements under MSPO and equip them with practical skills for workplace implementation.


2. Participant Attendance

A total of 35 participants registered for the programme. The following participants were recorded in the assessment and attendance records:

The programme was delivered fully online through Zoom, enabling participants from various locations to attend and actively participate in the training sessions.


3. Training Delivery Methodology

The programme adopted an interactive online learning approach comprising:

a) Interactive Lectures

Presentation of MSPO SIA requirements, principles, and implementation methodologies.

b) Virtual Group Discussions

Participants exchanged experiences and discussed practical social sustainability issues.

c) Case Study Exercises

Real-life scenarios were used to strengthen understanding of social impact assessment methodologies.

d) Stakeholder Mapping Activities

Participants practised identifying stakeholders and evaluating social impacts.

e) Practical Workshops

Exercises were conducted on impact assessment, mitigation planning, and reporting.

f) Question and Answer Sessions

Open discussions enabled participants to seek clarification and share experiences throughout the programme.

5. Participant Understanding Assessment

Assessment results demonstrated excellent participant understanding and competency achievement.

According to the assessment summary, all assessed participants achieved a 100% score and passed the assessment successfully. Participants were therefore recommended for the awarding of the Certificate of Achievement.

6. Trainer Observation

Throughout the online programme, participants demonstrated active engagement and positive participation during lectures, discussions, and practical exercises.

The trainer observed that participants were particularly engaged in:

  • Social impact evaluation activities;
  • Group discussions involving operational scenarios; and
  • Development of mitigation and monitoring measures.

Despite the virtual mode of delivery, participants maintained strong interaction and collaboration throughout the programme. The use of Zoom facilitated effective communication and knowledge sharing among participants from different organisations.


7. Summary of Improvement Suggestions

Based on participant feedback and trainer observations, the following opportunities for enhancement were identified:

  1. Include more practical workshops and simulation exercises.
  2. Provide additional examples of completed SIA reports and templates.
  3. Increase discussion on real-life social issues within the palm oil industry.
  4. Enhance sharing sessions on stakeholder consultation experiences.
  5. Continue updating training materials to align with current MSPO requirements.

Overall, participant feedback indicated strong satisfaction with the programme delivery and content.


8. Recommendations for Future Training

To further strengthen future MSPO SIA Basic Training programmes, the following recommendations are proposed:

Provide additional practical exercises involving stakeholder engagement.

Introduce more collaborative breakout sessions during online training.

9. Conclusion

The MSPO SIA Basic Training conducted from 15 to 17 December 2025 via the Zoom online platform was successfully completed and achieved its intended learning objectives.

Participant feedback demonstrated a high level of satisfaction, reflected by an average evaluation score of 4.7 out of 5.0, with no evaluation item scoring below 3.0 out of 5.0 and no dissatisfactory ratings recorded.

Assessment results further demonstrated excellent participant competency, with all assessed participants achieving a 100% pass rate and being recommended for the awarding of the Certificate of Achievement.

Based on participant engagement, assessment outcomes, and trainer observations, the programme is considered successful in strengthening participant competency in conducting Social Impact Assessments in accordance with the MSPO Certification Scheme.

This report is submitted to the Scheme Owner in fulfilment of the requirements under the MSPO Training Provider Endorsement and Terms of Engagement.
